WHAT PEOPLE SAY
Very friendly and hardworking. Spencer took the time to make the experience as smooth as possible and any changes I requested he would get back to me right away. I hope we can work together again sometime in the future.
I have worked with Spencer in a couple of projects and I highly recommend his services. I went through about 5 other [engineers] before Soma [Audio], and most have been rude, irresponsible and expensive. Most [engineers] don’t want to hear suggestions or special requests about your songs but Spencer won’t send you a master track until you are satisfied! Soma [Audio] is also open to several genres of music which is great for me because I record contemporary rock, soft acoustic with a lot of strings, even mariachi and traditional Mexican music. Don’t waste your time try Soma [Audio] and you won’t regret it.
Thank you, Spencer, for taking part in this very important project. I appreciate your professionalism, timeliness, and dedication to making sure that you delivered what I wanted. I look forward to working with you again in the very near future.
“Great experience working with Spencer. I found him through a google search and received a quick response about his rates. The back-and-forth communication was straightforward and always constructive. It is clear he is not only concerned with the final quality of the mix/master, but also with the client's overall satisfaction with their song. I sent him a less-than-ideal mix of my song and, after a discussion on how I should alter my mix, he allowed me to re-submit a new mix multiple times. My experience with other production engineers had been disheartening to say the least, so finding Spencer via the internet was a godsend.
Sound mixing is the process of taking multiple recorded tracks and blending them together into a final product. I finely balance the timbre, volume, and dynamics of each instrument and vocal recording to bring out the best in your music. This is done through equalization, compression, reverb, delay, and other processes to get your music sounding how you imagined it in your head.
Mastering is the final process done to prepare your music for streaming, radio, or physical release such as CDs and vinyl. Like mixing, I balance the timbre, volume, and dynamics, but this time I am polishing the entire song using EQ, compression, and limiting. I also make sure that your music sounds great across multiple playback systems (from a phone speaker to your car), one song in your album flows smoothly into the next, there is no clipping (distortion) going on in your song, and more.

At Soma Audio, my job is to deliver quality sound to you so that you can focus on your craft – making music. I handle everything from adjusting and balancing your music track levels and panning to audio processing and equalizing. Are you wanting the focus of your song to be on the vocals? Or maybe to have a heavy, explosive bass. Whatever your vision for your music, as Dallas’ top music mixing engineer, I’m here to make that happen.
What I Do
I take music people have recorded and make it sound as great as it can for streaming, radio, CD, vinyl and more. I can do this through equalization (EQ), compression, saturation, reverb, delay, and other tools to shape the frequency content, dynamics, and tonality of an artist's music.
I listen to what my clients tell me they want from their music and I do everything I can do achieve that goal. They might send me music to reference on how they want their music to sound, explain how they want things to sound, or every so often people will just leave things up to me. Often getting things right can require a few revisions to get things exactly how a client wants it. Sometimes it includes telling them things they can change in their recording set up if I am mixing for them or changing something in the mix if I am mastering.
